Sewage leak in Old Malakpet causes severe traffic disruption | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: A sewage leak onto the road at Old Malakpet caused major traffic disruption, creating difficulties for motorists along this heavily used route. The spillage led to significant traffic congestion, affecting the daily commute of travellers in the area.Commissioner AV Ranganath of the Hyderabad Disaster Management and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA), along with Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner RV Karnan, conducted an inspection of the flood and sewage-prone Akbarbagh area. Residents informed the commissioners that flooding occurs regularly during rainfall. Both locals and officials attributed the issue to damage in the junction line that channels flood and sewage water into the Musi River.During discussions on remedial measures, the commissioners recommended the use of high-pressure jetting machines to clear construction debris and refuse from the 100-metre pipeline. The fault was identified between Metro Pillars 1,417–1,420, located along the Koti–Dilsukhnagar route between Malakpet Railway Station and Nalgonda X Roads. HMWSSB and GHMC have proposed laying a new drainage pipeline to replace the old sewage line.Meanwhile, the city police diverted traffic until 6 pm on Sunday. Vehicles coming from MGBS and Chaderghat Bridge were barred from proceeding towards Chaderghat X Roads and Malakpet. Traffic from Koti and Rangamahal via Chaderghat was not allowed towards Chaderghat Rotary, Chaderghat Chota Bridge, and Malakpet. Private travel buses were requested to avoid entering city limits.Traffic diversions:RTC buses coming from MGBS exit gate and heading towards Vijayawada, Suryapet, Nalgonda, and Khammam were diverted at Chaderghat Rotary towards Chaderghat X Roads, Nimboliadda, Amberpet New Flyover, Ramanthapur, Uppal, and LB Nagar towards the Vijayawada highway. Buses bound for Kalwakurthy, Devarakonda, and Srisailam were diverted via the same route. As congestion was expected in areas including MJ Market, Koti, Rang Mahal X Roads, Chaderghat, SJ Rotary, Nimboliadda, and Golnaka, commuters were advised to take alternative routes to reach their destinations.
