Hyderabad: A 21-year-old man was stabbed to death in the early hours of Saturday following a confrontation with a group of assailants near a corporate hospital in Madhapur. According to police, the victim, Jayant Goud, a resident of Manikonda and currently unemployed, had discontinued his studies after completing class X. On Friday night, he had organised a small celebration for his mother Laxmi’s birthday at a relative’s home in Kondapur. Following the family gathering, Jayant’s friends requested a party of their own.Jayant, along with seven friends, purchased liquor and headed to an isolated open area behind the hospital around 10 pm. While the group was consuming alcohol, three unidentified individuals approached them and demanded money and liquor. When the group declined, the suspects attempted to snatch a liquor bottle. Jayant resisted, prompting one of the assailants to stab him. This happened at around 1.15 am.“Jayant suffered stab wounds to the chest and hip. He collapsed on the spot while the attackers fled. His friends could not intervene as one of the suspects was armed with a knife,” said Madhapur inspector D Krishna Mohan. “We were alerted via a dial 100 call around 1.30 am. Our team rushed to the location and transported Jayant to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead.”Based on a complaint filed by Jayant’s family, a case has been registered under section 103(1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Madhapur police station.Initially, police suspected local involvement, but preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are believed to be from the Kukatpally area. Authorities are also examining whether the incident stemmed from a personal grudge rather than a robbery.“The sudden arrival of the accused at a secluded location where another group was partying does not appear coincidental,” said a senior police official. “We are pursuing multiple leads, and further details will emerge as the investigation progresses.”
