City police may issue a notice to the Hindutva leader for ditching security cover during his bike tour
HYDERABAD – Staunch Hindutva proponent and BJP legislator from Goshamahal constituency in Hyderabad, T Raja Singh, reportedly took a motorbike tour of the Old City without his security detail to give a “live telecast of illegal cattle sale” in the city ahead of the Muslim festival of Eid-Al-Azha.
The Hyderabad city police is likely to issue a notice to the BJP leader for his “misadventure,” media reports said on Sunday.
Raja Singh is notorious for his controversial and Islamophobic statements, often sparking widespread criticism and debate. His comments have been perceived as fuelling communal tensions and promoting divisive rhetoric.
As part of his “awareness” tour on Saturday (May 31), Raja Singh took to the streets on his motorcycle along with a handful of his supporters. He toured Talabkatta, Bhavani Nagar, Injanboli (Chandrayangutta), Baba Nagar, Bahadurpura, Santosh Nagar, Yakutpura, and Golconda. The entire tour was recorded by those accompanying the BJP legislator.
“I personally visited multiple areas in Hyderabad and found that cow calves are openly being sold for slaughter ahead of Bakrid (Eid-Al-Azha), a serious violation of animal protection laws and a threat to communal harmony,” reads his X post.
The security detail provided to the legislator includes a 2+2 security cover and a bullet-resistant Scorpio vehicle. The security was provided to the Hindutva leader by the Hyderabad Police after Singh claimed to have received several death threats.
The police claim to have warned the legislator several times not to move into the city without the provided security cover. However, the BJP leader has often been found to have ignored the police advice.
In the entire video uploaded on Singh’s social media platforms, the security detail is conspicuous by its absence. The police had already issued him a notice earlier for failing to comply with security protocol instructions.
Raja Singh rose to prominence by delivering hate speeches against the Muslim community.
A day earlier, Singh gave a lesson on ‘dharma’ to Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Telangana DGP and Hyderabad Police Commissioner on the importance of cows and the consequences of facilitating their sacrifice during Eid-Al-Azha.
In a video, Raja Singh said that the state government is supporting illegal transportation and the sacrifice of cattle. He alleged that the government is facilitating the issuance of duplicate certificates by veterinary doctors at the check posts set up to prevent the illegal transportation of cattle.
“Revanth Reddy ji, you are the king of Telangana. You have also worshipped the cow, you are aware of the importance of cows. The sin of killing cows will haunt seven generations, so don’t become a partner in the sin. The DGP, the commissioner and other police officials should also not become partners in the sin of cow killing,” said Raja Singh.
Raja Singh also alleged that the police are harassing gau rakshaks (cow vigilantes) and issuing notices to them warning against stopping the trucks carrying cattle to the city. The police are warning of booking cases of dacoity and robbery against the gau rakshaks, he claimed.
