Placement rate goes up in NIT-Warangal

With 1,201 students securing jobs this year, the placement rate has improved at the National Institute of Technology – Warangal (NIT-W) from 76% last year to 79.7%.

This year, a total of 1,508 students registered for placements, including 791 under graduates (UGs) and 717 post graduates (PGs). While 679 UGs got jobs, 522 PGs secured placements from various companies.

Notably, the UG placement rate stood at 85.8%, and PG placement rate reached 72.8%, despite the constrained job market.

The highest package of ₹64.3 lakh per annum (LPA) was secured by Somil Maldhani, who got a job as a Software Development Engineer. The average cost to company (CTC) across all placements was ₹14.35 LPA, with undergraduate students averaging a CTC of ₹16 LPA and postgraduate students averaging ₹12.20 LPA.

For the first time, structured efforts were made to facilitate PhD placements, with six doctoral scholars successfully placed at an average CTC of ₹9 LPA.

Reflecting on the achievements of the placement season, Bidyadhar Subudhi, Director, NIT-W, said, “In a difficult market, our students outshone many with their skill, adaptability, and professionalism. Our efforts in expanding training, improving industry linkages, and diversifying placement opportunities have truly paid off.”

The Centre for Career Planning and Development (CCPD) played a pivotal role in this success by launching a comprehensive pre-placement training programme designed to boost students’ employability.
