The Hyderabad police Sunday advised Telangana BJP MLA Thakur Raja Singh to use the bulletproof vehicle and security personnel allotted to him by the government, especially when visiting areas deemed communally sensitive. This was after Raja Singh took a bike ride without a helmet and alleged open sale of calves for slaughter ahead of Bakrid.
According to the police, the three-time Goshamahal MLA visited areas such as Talabkatta, Bhavani Nagar, Injanboli, Baba Nagar, Bahadurpura, Santosh Nagar, Yakutpura, Golkonda, and Jirra between 5 pm and 7 pm on May 31. The police, in their notice to Raja Singh, stated that it is the MLA’s responsibility to cooperate in maintaining law and order and avoid untoward incidents.
This was not the first time the Hyderabad police urged Raja Singh to use a bulletproof vehicle. When they did so earlier in March, citing calls threatening to kill him, Raja Singh accused them of hypocrisy and said that they had rejected his application for a gun licence.
In the latest notice, the Hyderabad police stated, “It is to once again alert that you have been receiving frequent threatening calls and it is noticed that you are often leaving the residence and office without any security personnel and moving highly communal sensitive areas… which shows negligence towards your life and safety.”
“Once again, you are requested to protect yourself by using a bulletproof vehicle and inevitably utilise the (1+4) security personnel allotted by the Government,” it added.
Taking to social media, Singh on May 31 posted that he had visited multiple areas in Hyderabad and found that calves were openly being sold for slaughter ahead of Bakrid, in what he called “a serious violation of animal protection laws and a threat to communal harmony”.
I personally visited multiple areas in #Hyderabad and found that cow calves are openly being sold for slaughter ahead of Bakrid, a serious violation of animal protection laws and a threat to communal harmony.

He listed out Talabkatta, Bhavani Nagar, Injanboli (Chandrayangutta), Baba Nagar, Bahadurpura, Santosh Nagar, Yakutpura, Golconda Area, and Jirra, as he shared a video of himself riding a bike without wearing a helmet.
“This is happening right under the nose of authorities. Requesting the police department to act immediately, this is not just illegal, it can spark serious unrest. If no action is taken soon, we may be forced to escalate the matter further,” he added.
