Two iconic SUVs that once ruled Indian roads are set to make a bolder comeback in India. Yes, we are talking about the Tata Sierra and Renault Duster. Both SUVs will arrive with a modern design language, tech-loaded interiors and more powerful engines. The Sierra is set to hit showrooms near around 2025 festive season, while the third-gen Renault Duster will arrive in 2026. Let’s dive into the key details of these two upcoming SUVs.
Upcoming SUVs In India
Tata Sierra

The all-new Sierra will be offered with three engine options – petrol, diesel and electric. While the petrol and diesel versions are likely to feature a 1.5L turbo and a 2.0L turbo engine, respectively, the electric model could be offered with multiple battery pack options. Its range is expected to exceed 500km on a full charge. Interestingly, the Tata Sierra ICE will be designed on the ATLAS platform, while the Sierra EV will be underpinned by the Gen 2 Acti.ev architecture.
Similar to the showcased concept, the production-ready Sierra could be offered with 5 and 4-seats configuration options. In terms of features, it might be equipped with a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, ventilated seats, wireless phone charger, wireless smartphone connectivity, Level 2 ADAS and more.
Renault Duster
Renault India is gearing up to introduce the third-generation Duster sometime next year, aiming to challenge the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Tata Sierra and other models in the midsize SUV segment. In India, the all-new Renault Duster is expected to come with two turbo petrol engines – a 1.0L and a 1.3L. A hybrid powertrain is also likely to be introduced. Transmission choices will include both manual and automatic gearboxes.
The interior of the Duster will witness a major upgrade. The new model is likely to come with goodies like ADAS, a 6-speaker Arkamys 3D sound system, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, etc.
