VinFast to Launch VF6, VF7 Electric SUVs Before Diwali

VinFast, the leading Vietnamese EV manufacturer, is gearing up to begin its Indian operations with two electric SUVs – the VF6 and VF7. Both EVs are slated to hit the roads before the 2025 Diwali season. The carmaker plans to invest $2 billion to set up an EV manufacturing facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. Furthermore, the company is in talks with the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments to set up additional production plants.

Let’s take a look at the key details of the upcoming VinFast VF6 and VF7 electric SUVs.

VinFast VF6

The VinFast VF6 has an aerodynamic design with the brand’s signature V-shaped LED lighting integrated with a full-width DRL strip and 19-inch alloy wheels. This EV measures 4,238mm in length, 1,820mm in width and 1,594mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,730mm.

The VF6 offers a minimalist and modern interior layout, highlighted by a floating center display and a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Additionally, the EV comes equipped with a digital instrument cluster, OTA (over-the-air) updates, Level 2 ADAS, blind spot monitoring, 6 airbags, auto emergency brakes, lane keep assist, a 360 degree camera and more.

In global markets, the VinFast VF6 is available in two trims – Eco and Plus – featuring a 59.6kWh lithium-ion battery with a front-axle mounted electric motor. The Eco variant generates a maximum power of 178bhp and a peak torque of 250Nm, while the Plus variant returns a claimed power of 204bhp and 310Nm of torque. The battery packs offer WLTP range of 399km (Eco) and 381km (Plus).

VinFast VF7

The VF7 electric coupe SUV has a futuristic design with sharp design elements. It features a signature V-light bar front and rear with full LED setup along with the 20-inch alloy wheels (reserved for the Plus trim). This EV is 4,545mm long, 1,890mm wide and 1,636mm tall.

The VinFast VF7’s high-tech interior comes with features such as a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system, built-in VinFast assistant and Alexa support (in select markets), a panoramic sunroof, a fully digital instrument cluster, Level 2 ADAS, 7 airbags, adaptive cruise control, automatic parking and more.

The VinFast VF7 is offered in two variants – Eco and Plus – packed with a 75.3kWh battery pack. While the Eco variant gets a single electric motor, promising power worth 204bhp and 310Nm of torque, the Plus trim features a dual motor setup delivering a maximum power of 354bhp with 500Nm. VinFast VF7 claims a WLTP range of 450km for the Eco trim and 431km for the Plus trim.
