The District 10 softball playoffs featured the top teams battling as the top two seeds in nearly every class ended up in the D-10 final. Out of five champions, three were the top seed in their class and two others were the No. 2 seed. The D-10 champions all moved on to the PIAA tournament this week.
Here are five choices for D-10 softball playoff MVP. The poll will run until noon on Friday.
Kayla Crawford, Cambridge Springs – The Southeastern Louisiana recruit rolled through the playoffs to help the Blue Devils win the D-10 Class 1A title. She struck out 13 in a two-hit shutout in the semifinals to beat Rocky Grove 2-0 before striking out 12 in a three-hit shutout in a 12-0 win over West Middlesex in the D-10 championship.
Haylee Farrell, Seneca – Not only did the sophomore hit the ball throughout the D-10 2A postseason, she made a habit of hitting for extra bases. She went 2-for-3 with one in the quarterfinals with both hits being doubles. Farrell had two more hits in the semifinals before erupting for four hits and four RBIs in the D-10 final. Out of those four hits she had two doubles and a home run giving her five extra-base hits and five RBIs in the D-10 playoffs.
Maddy Vogan, Sharon – The sophomore Division I recruit kept hitters off-balance throughout the D-10 3A playoffs. She struck out 15 and allowed one hit in five shutout innings as the Tigers beat Fairview 12-0 in the quarterfinals. She also struck out 12 in a five-hitter in the semifinals and she struck out 11 and allowed just two hits and one unearned run in the D-10 final.
Bella Zaczyk, Fort Leboeuf – The sophomore had key hits throughout the Bison’s run to the D-10 4A championship. In the semifinals, Zaczyk belted two doubles and drove in one run in a 10-2 win over Titusville before crushing a game-changing home run in a 2-1 win over Harbor Creek in the D-10 championship.
Gabby DeLuca, McDowell – The Mercyhurst commit nearly struck out every batter she faced in a 12-0 win over Erie for the D-10 6A championship. DeLuca struck out 13 in five perfect innings for the Trojans.
