Apple WWDC 2025 is less than a week away and it seems the company’s big AI updates and details will not get the right mileage.

Apple WWDC 2025 Preview: Big AI Updates Not Expected This Year

Apple AI strategy has faced internal issues because they didn’t see the hype

Apple WWDC 2025 is just a week away from now and the company is widely expected to match Google’s AI ambitions and show us the new features and tools. However, reports this week may dampen your excitement because Apple is unlikely to have anything major lined up at the big event this month.

Apple and AI is becoming a fractious deal and it seems we might have to wait longer to see its recent AI changes come to fruition. WWDC 2025 will be 12 months since Apple first introduced its AI features and showed us the promising Siri AI demos. Now one year later we might see the company go easy on these claims and promises.

Apple AI Coming But Not Too Big

The report from Bloomberg suggests the big macOS 26 update is nailed in addition to the WWDC 2025 keynote next week. However, the Apple AI updates will be limited to some new features and nothing that will have Google or OpenAI sweating at least for now.

The company is likely to allow third-party developers so that their apps can support the AI features. Apple will also have a special focus on making AI data process privately, even for the apps that tie up with its AI model.

Apple has privately realised its mistake in understating the AI impact and the Siri AI upgrade is not expected before 2026 which means this year is going to be Apple showing its basic upgrades, and most of them are unlikely to blow our minds.

Instead, Apple could have more impetus to talk about the rumoured iOS 26 version which is expected to be part of the new naming sequence for the company, similar to macOS 26 and more. Microsoft did this with Windows for many years, now we could see it with the iOS, iPad and macOS versions.

The first iOS version was released in 2007 along with the iPhone model and Apple could finally change how the iOS platform is called among the users.
