Old But Clean: Share Your PUC to Support Re-Registration Rights

NOT ALL old vehicle(s) causes or is the reason behind pollution & Re-registration option must be given for vehicle which pass the fitness criteria

Old vehicle doesn’t mean pollution | Post your PUCC here

Posting this thread because new rules are reducing the possibility (even banning) of re- registration of 10 & 15 Year old Diesel & Petrol vehicle(s) respectively and to show policy makers that – NOT ALL old vehicle(s) causes or is the reason behind pollution & Re-registration option must be given for vehicle which pass the fitness criteria as there are many owners who use their vehicle sparingly.

Thread rules-

  • Post Vehicle (Car/Bike) detail i.e Name & Model, Year of manufacturing, fuel, Cubic capacity, odometer reading & Emission Norm.
  • Insert recent PUCC (Pollution Under Control Certificate).

Vehicle details

  • Name – Suzuki Access 125
  • Year – 2012
  • Fuel – Petrol
  • Cubic capacity – 125
  • Odometer reading – 38,426 KM
  • Emission Norm – Bharat Stage 3

2005 Hyundai Accent GLE

I have obtained fitness for my well maintained car till 2030. Last taken fitness attached. This car is well maintained and is a daily used car.

Well maintained vehicles should be allowed to run on the roads .

Cheers

While this is what Bhpian bhodrolok added to the topic:

Sorry, for BS4 and prior diesel vehicles, it just not technically possible for them to meet current emission norms.

For petrol fitness check maybe an option but the way PUC is done in our country, there is effectively no checks or balances so the govt has no other option but to remove older vehicles from circulation if they want to do anything about air quality issues.

Here’s what BHPian Dan0067 had to say in this matter:

I have been keeping the PUCC for my 26 year old Zen carb regularly and every single time the results are significantly under the limit. I do not know why the re-registration of old vehicles isn’t based on pollution levels instead of age.

Meanwhile, here’s BHPian Voodooblaster shared this with other enthusiasts:

Pollution should not be simply calculated based on tailpipe emissions.

Environmental cost in manufacturing a vehicle and its components (ancillary/ supplier industries, transportation ) and finally environmental cost of safe disposal should be considered before bringing about a vehicle scrappage policy

On a sidenote, I have seen many DG Sets being operated in malls , hospitals etc. They seem to enjoy relaxed norms.

While state run hospitals can be given exemption for DG Sets , hotels and malls should also be incentivised to go solar and use less polluting power backup facilities
