Vijayawada: Amidst a fresh spike in Covid-19 cases in some states, special chief secretary (health & medical) MT Krishna Babu has directed the concerned officials to ramp up Covid-19 testing facilities at all govt general hospitals (GGHs) across the state.Krishna Babu chaired a meeting with medical and health department officials and reviewed the Covid-19 situation in Andhra Pradesh at his chamber in the secretariat on Monday. He enquired about the availability of viral transport medium (VTM) kits, RNA extraction kits, and RT-PCR kits used for Covid-19 testing in the state. Officials explained that the state is currently reporting a lower number of Covid-19 cases and that healthcare personnel are conducting tests as per the prescribed guidelines for individuals visiting GGHs with fever symptoms.
