Hyderabad: Security was heightened on Tuesday at Gandhi Bhavan, the headquarters of the ruling Congress party in Hyderabad, sparking speculation that the much-anticipated cabinet expansion could take place within the next few days. While official sources attributed the increased security to the revival of the ministers’ face-to-face programme starting Wednesday—which is expected to draw large crowds—there was widespread talk that the move was a precaution against potential protests by supporters of aspirants who may be left out of the proposed cabinet reshuffle.Senior Congress leaders maintained that any decision regarding cabinet expansion rests with the All India Congress Committee. However, they clarified that they had not received any official indication that the expansion would take place imminently.
