Following the Harrier EV, the Tata Sierra will be the next major product launch from the home-grown automaker. Tata has confirmed that the all-new Sierra will come with three powertrain options – petrol, diesel and electric. The petrol version might feature a 1.5L turbo engine, while the diesel model could be offered with a 2.0L motor. The electric Sierra might share its powertrains with the Harrier EV. It’s expected to be one of the most feature-packed SUVs in its category.

Maruti Shield

Codenamed Maruti Y17, the upcoming Maruti midsize SUV will be based on the Grand Vitara. However, it will be slightly more affordable and retailed via Arena dealership network. If reports are to be believed, this new Maruti SUV could be named ‘Maruti Shield’. Powering the SUV could be the Grand Vitara’s 1.5L NA petrol and 1.5L hybrid setups, delivering power worth 103bhp and 79bhp, respectively. The Maruti Escudo will be larger than Brezza, and longer than the Grand Vitara.

New Renault Duster

The third-generation Renault Duster is one of the much-awaited upcoming new midsize SUVs in India. The SUV’s all-new model is likely to come with two turbocharged petrol engines – a 1.0L and a 1.3L. A hybrid powertrain might also be offered. Major design changes will be made to the new Duster. Its interior will be significantly more upmarket than its previous generation, featuring highlights like ADAS, a larger infotainment system, fully digital and bigger driver’s display, wireless phone charging and more.

New Nissan SUV

Nissan will also foray into the midsize SUV segment with a new model based on the upcoming Duster. It’s expected to arrive in the second half of 2026. As per media reports, the new Nissan midsize SUV could be named as ‘Nissan kait’ in the Brazilian market. Its design and styling will be completely different from the Duster. The official teaser reveals the brand’s signature grille with two thin chrome strips and L-shaped LED DRLs. The Nissan Kait will share its platform and powertrains with the Duster.
