My BMW S1000RR: Installing Carbon Fiber Parts For Visual Upgrade

The Carbon Fiber bug has bitten me and the next couple of upgrades that the bike got are Carbon Fiber parts. Got in touch with RLZ carbon and told them that I needed a few parts for the bike and they obliged

BHPian AtheK recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

Parts Ordered:

1. Carbon Fiber Rear Seat Cowl

2. Top Tank Cover

3. Rear Tyre Hugger and Chain Cover

4. Dash Panel Inserts

Arrived in a nice big box

1. Carbon Fiber Rear Seat Cowl

Though the bike had a cowl, it was ABS plastic one with CF dip, so I needed an Original CF cowl. Went ahead and ordered it, the fitting is good, though the rubber inserts were of not great quality, have informed the team to fix it for future dispatches.

Got PPF done on it later with a little bit of sticker work.

2. Top Tank Cover

I want to make the entire front into carbon fiber so this was also ordered.

Sits nice and perfect.

This also went for a PPF and I ended up putting a sticker I had got earlier for the top box on it, this is the final look.

3. Rear Tyre Hugger and Chain Cover

This is one of another bad quality part given by BMW, while hugger is acceptable, the quality of chain cover is pathetic. This was one part that was on my radar to change at first possible point.

When received from RLZ

Sits nice and perfect on the bike.

Again adorned by some sticker work!

4. Dash Panel Inserts

This is another final plastic part that I wanted to change in the bike, and this came a bit later then the rest, but unfortunately one of the bonding material from RLZ was a bit weak, so the part has been sent back for replacement.

Must say the quality and finish of RLZ has really imporved from my Ducati days, they still definitely need improvements but they have been listening to customer feedback and working on it, hopefully they are able to match International standards in near future.

For now I wait for the final part to come back to me so I can finish my front Carbon fiber look of the bike. That should remove all visible plastic parts to naked eye from equation.

5. Installing the 50th anniversary BMW badge

Had my eye on this badge from sometime, so ended up installing them when I had opened the fairings to Install the dash panels, they do look pretty awesome to me and goes well with the bike overall.

In comparison to original badge.

On the bike.

Future Upgrades:

1. CF belly pan

2. Brentune Stage 1

Not that bike has only been getting Visual upgrades, it has also been getting quite a bit of ride time, in my next post I will detail couple of long rides. Let me leave you for now with a picture of the bike from this weekend ride.

Three Supersports on an Offroad mission.

Some where while offroading.

Final ride

Ride details to be penned soon, until next time.
