Hyderabad: The façade lighting of Kacheguda Railway Station will be dedicated to the nation by Union Minister of Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy at the railway station on June 9.

The Kacheguda Railway Station is one of the major terminals in the twin cities of Hyderabad, serving the majority of the rail users in the city. It consists of five platforms, equipped with modern passenger amenities and sees an average of 103 trains and 45,000 footfall per day. The station has been in operation for more than 100 years.


As part of tourism-friendly initiatives, the façade of Kacheguda Railway Station has been illuminated at a cost of Rs 2.23 crore. The proposal was sanctioned by the Tourism Ministry, while the entire work has been executed by the Hyderabad Division of South Central Railway.

The main objective is to create architectural beautification, highlight the Indo-Saracenic/Indo-Gothic architecture and its rich heritage with the right illumination. The various colour themes used in illumination enhance the spirit of various local/national/international occasions and events.

The lighting is environmentally safe and free from light pollution and luminaires and electrical accessories are structurally safe mounted, a press release said.
