Maruti Suzuki & Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) are gearing up to enter the electric vehicle (EV) market with the e Vitara and Urban Cruiser EV. Both EVs have been unveiled in their production-spec versions. Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that the electric Vitara will go on sale by September, 2025, while the new Toyota electric SUV is likely to arrive in late 2025. The Toyota Urban Cruiser EV is essentially a re-badged version of the e Vitara, featuring Toyota’s signature grille and a few design changes. The platform, features, battery and components will be shared between both EVs.

Since both electric SUVs share several technologies, the Maruti e Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser EV will come with two battery packs – 49kWh and 61kWh. The smaller battery pack is paired with a front axle-mounted 143bhp motor, while the larger battery is mated with a 173bhp motor. Torque output for both setups stands at 193Nm. However the exact range figures haven’t been disclosed yet, Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that the larger battery pack will deliver a range of over 500km.

Interior & Features:
The cabin layout and features of the electric Vitara and Urban Cruiser EV are identical. Both EVs feature a 10.25 infotainment system and a 10.1-inch instrument cluster. The infotainment system will support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. The EVs come with rectangular AC vent placed horizontally on the dashboard. While the electric Vitara has brown-black cabin theme, Toyota’s EV has a single-tone theme.
Toyota has revealed that the Urban Cruiser EV’s rear seats come with a slide and recline ratio of 40:20:40 along with a 40:20:40 split-folding function. Both the e Vitara and Urban Cruiser EV are equipped with an ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) suite offering features such as lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control.
