Why The KTM 390 Duke?
Got myself a 2025 KTM 390 Duke with cruise control. A very unlikely purchase yet it happened, was in no mood to settle for a single but the twin cylinder options are still very limited for those looking for something good south of the 5L mark. And, the Duke checked all the boxes and more as long as I was willing to ignore the single cylinder architecture.
First Long Ride: Experience with Cruise Control and Fuel Economy
The bike is due for it’s first service and has done nearly 550 kilometres including a 440 kilometres road trip Pune > Nashik > Pune. Never thought I’d use it but cruise control is truly a God sent blessings however needs to be used judiciously on our roads.
Overall fuel economy I got on this road trip was 35.1 kmpl, didn’t rev beyond 5000 RPM as the engine is new and not yet run in fully. So, the whole trip was done in 1 tank full, i.e. if you are kind on the throttle, she’ll give you a 450 kilometres range (give or take) which to be honest is a fantastic range for a fairly powerful motorcycle.
Planned Modifications
I had planned to get a lot of accessories to make it truly touring fit but I’m relooking at the list, the idea is to not get any ‘want but don’t really need’ types.
So far I have installed rear view mirrors and saddle stays from Zana and I must say that Zana is slightly hyped but the quality is decent.
I’m looking for VFM knuckle guards with aluminium spine, can someone please suggest something which is reasonably priced, online options would be a preference.
Intend to post a proper purchase decision, experience and user review soon (after the first service).
