With the Galaxy A7, Geely promises a total driving range of more than 2,100 km.

Chinese carmaker Geely has unveiled the Galaxy A7 which will take on the likes of the Toyota Camry and the Honda Accord. It will be offered exclusively as a plug-in hybrid.

The Galaxy A7 features Geely’s NordThor plug-in hybrid system that comprises a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a single electric motor. This setup is also seen in other Geely models like the Galaxy Starship 7 SUV and the larger Galaxy Star 8 sedan. In its most efficient form, the Star 8 manages up to 130 km of electric-only driving and a total range of 1,600 km.  With the Galaxy A7, Geely promises a total driving range of more than 2,100 km.

The Galaxy A7  features slim LED headlamps connected by a light bar and aggressive front bumpers. The side reveals chrome trim for the windows and conventional door handles. The rear features unique graphics for the taillamps that are also connected to a light bar. It also gets an integrated boot spoiler.  It measures 4,918 mm in length with a 2,845 mm wheelbase.

Inside, the Galaxy A7 gets a small digital instrument cluster and a large free-standing screen for the infotainment. There is a set of physical buttons and a rotary dial instead of incorporating all functions in the touchscreen. The car comes with light upholstery and wooden inserts in the dashboard and door panels.

Geely is expected to launch the Galaxy A7 at 100,000 Chinese Yuan. This would make it significantly cheaper than the Camry Hybrid that starts at 179,800 Yuan.
