Vijayawada: As Amaravati reconstruction works are set to begin, a large number of workers from across India are arriving in the capital region. To maintain law and order, the police held a meeting with construction company representatives and instructed them to share the details of migrant workers with the police, take necessary precautions at worksites and residences, and conduct weekly review meetings. The police warned of strict action if anti-social elements or criminals are found among the workers.Thullur deputy superintendent of police (DSP), Murali Krishna, held a key meeting with representatives of construction companies that secured tenders for Amaravati development works. During the meeting, the DSP stressed the importance of maintaining detailed records of all migrant workers being brought into the region. He instructed company contractors to share the particulars of these workers with the local police without delay.Highlighting the potential risks associated with the mass movement of labourers, the DSP underscored the need for vigilance both at worksites and in the areas where workers are housed. “If any anti-social activities are detected or if criminals are found to be employed at the sites, strict legal action will be taken,” he warned. He reiterated that the responsibility of monitoring the conduct of workers lies not just with law enforcement, but also with the management of the construction firms involved. The meeting was part of a broader initiative by the police department to uphold peace and security in the Amaravati region as thousands of labourers arrive from different states. “We called for a joint interaction with company representatives who were awarded tenders for Amaravati works. Since a large number of workers are being brought in, we issued several instructions regarding worker behaviour, safety protocols, and necessary precautions,” the DSP explained. The companies have been asked to conduct weekly review meetings with their labour force and share updates with the police. They were also advised to educate workers on appropriate conduct and report any suspicious activity immediately. The police plan to continue these interactions regularly to ensure seamless coordination between law enforcement and construction firms throughout the reconstruction process.
