Telangana residents wake up to heavy overnight rainfall | Hyderabad News


Hyderabad: Several districts in Telangana received heavy overnight rainfall, with Birkur in Kamareddy district recording the highest at 98.3 mm, according to data from the Telangana Development Planning Society. Kamareddy district dominated the rainfall chart, with multiple mandals — including Tadwai (79.8 mm), Jukkal (77 mm), and Kamareddy town itself (75.5 mm) — receiving significant precipitation.Heavy to moderate showers were recorded in parts of Nizamabad, Jagtial, and Rangareddy districts as well. Thumpally in Sirkonda mandal received 63.8 mm, while Pothangal and Menoorr in Nizamabad saw 58.5 mm and 57.5 mm respectively.In light of the widespread rain, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for multiple districts including Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Kamareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Nalgonda, and Suryapet. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely to occur at isolated places, and gusty winds are expected across all districts.Hyderabad city is also on yellow alert, with high chances of rain forecast throughout the day. Commuters are advised to plan their travel accordingly and stay alert for updates.Authorities urged residents in vulnerable areas to remain cautious.
