Thug Life Result: A Real Nightmare

Indian cinema has witnessed several changes post pandemic. The audience are feeling comfortable to watch films on the digital platforms and the theatrical footfalls have seen a considerable decline. But here is the twist. For super hit films, the audience are ready to rush and watch the films in theatres. From the first weekend business, it has now reached first day business if the word of mouth is not satisfying. Thug Life is the best example in the recent times. Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam reunited for a film after 38 long years.

The duo has delivered several memorable films and Thug Life is a real nightmare for both of them. The film opened on a poor note outside Tamil Nadu and the numbers have seen a huge decline by evening. The Telugu rights are sealed for Rs 18 crores and Thug Life will struggle to collect Rs 2 crores excluding the expenses. This is a big shock for any producer or filmmaker. The film dropped big in Tamil Nadu and the Hindi openings are quite poor. Despite a decent trailer and Kamal Haasan promoting the film on big platforms, Thug Life was rejected badly. The audience are not very interested in watching bad films in theatres. Word of mouth has turned out to be the major game player for any film. Stars are secondary now.
