IMD predicts heavy rains in T today | Hyderabad News


Hyderabad: Several parts of Telangana experienced intense rainfall on Wednesday, with the districts of Nalgonda and Nagarkurnool reeling under continuous downpours for several hours. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast further heavy rain on Thursday in isolated areas across state, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 km/h.According to the IMD, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated locations in the districts of Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Jagtial, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, and Jogulamba Gadwal. Thunderstorms, accompanied by lightning and strong winds, are expected across all districts. Nalgonda and Nagarkurnool, recording some of the highest rainfall figures of the day. In Nalgonda, Devarakonda received 76.5mm of rainfall, followed by Thripuraram (49.3 mm), Kondamallapally (44.5mm), Gundlapalle (33mm), and Damaracherla (30mm). Nagarkurnool also recorded significant rainfall, with Nagarkurnool town receiving 47mm and Telkapalle 44mm. In the neighbouring Rangareddy district, Yacharam recorded 29mm of rain.Officials have urged residents in vulnerable areas to remain vigilant. Emergency response teams are on standby, as local authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.
