New Renault Duster – Petrol, Hybrid, CNG & Electric Details

The third-generation Renault Duster is coming to India, and we’re all aware and excited for its launch. What’s even more thrilling is the arrival of the 7-seater version of the Duster, officially named the Renault Boreal. Several news reports, spy images, and videos have surfaced online, revealing intriguing details about the new Duster. We now have fresh on its India launch, production and engine options.

The new Duster will enter production at Renault-Nissan’s Chennai-based facility in September, 2025. It’s expected that the production-ready model will hit roads in early 2026. The 7-seater Duster will follow the launch of its 5-seater counterpart.

New Renault Duster Hybrid Launch

Globally, both the new Duster and its 7-seater sibling (Boreal) will be offered with hybrid powertrain. These hybrid variants are scheduled to launch within 6 to 12 months after their petrol-powered versions. As of now, there is no clarity whether the Duster hybrid will be launched in India.

Renault Duster Engine Options

Petrol:

In India, the new Duster will be offered with the naturally aspirated petrol and turbocharged petrol engine options. The same powertrains will be used in the 7-seater Boreal as well.

Hybrid:

The strong hybrid Duster is likely to feature a 94bhp, 1.6L, 4-cylinder petrol engine, paired with two electric motors and a 1.2kWh battery pack. The combined power output will be around 140bhp. The Renault Duster 7-seater hybrid will come with a more powerful 108bhp, petrol engine, a 51bhp motor and a 1.4kWh battery, generating a maximum power of 155bhp. Both SUVs will get an electric automatic gearbox as standard.

Electric:

A fully electric Duster is also being under consideration, and it might launch after the hybrid models. Media reports suggest that Renault-Nissan might introduce a Hyundai Creta Electric rival SUV, based on CMG-B EV platform. The Duster-based midsize electric SUV is estimated to be priced between Rs 15 lakh – Rs 20 lakh.

CNG:

The French automaker is also exploring the possibility of offering a CNG (compressed natural gas) powered Duster. The company is evaluating the third-party CNG solutions, depending on regulatory and market demand.
