In conversation with carandbike, Anand Kulkarni, Chief Products Officer at Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd, confirmed the Tata Harrier EV QWD will hit an electronically-limited top speed of 180 kmph. This makes the Harrier EV nearly as fast as the diesel engine Harrier.

Kulkarni told carandbike the Harrier EV could have had a higher top speed, but the manufacturer did not see the point of raising the top speed limit. When asked how much faster the Harrier EV could go, Kulkarni said that hypothetically, it could crack the 200 kmph mark without the electronic cap in place.

Tata claims a 0-100 kmph acceleration time of 6.3 seconds for the Harrier QWD, which makes it the quickest-accelerating passenger vehicle from the carmaker till date.

Understandably, the added weight of the dual-motor setup means the Harrier EV is substantially heavier than the diesel Harrier. Kulkarni revealed the Harrier RWD weighs 2235 kg, which is 300 kg heavier than the Harrier diesel. The Harrier QWD, at 2,336 kg, is over 400 kg heavier than the combustion engine Harrier.

To offset any challenges posed by the added heft, Kulkarni explained the company’s engineers have achieved a 47:53 weight distribution with the Harrier EV to ensure it is dynamically sound.
