Telangana to transform Hyderabad into the film capital of India

Hyderabad: Telangana has embarked on a journey to transform Hyderabad into the film capital of India

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu announced the government’s vision to develop Hyderabad as the film capital to elevate its stature in the entertainment industry.

Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu has announced the government’s vision to develop Hyderabad as the capital of the Indian Film City to elevate its stature in the film industry.

The directive was issued during a meeting of the Sub-Committee on Comprehensive Film Industry Development, where officials were instructed to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) to kick-start the transformation.

Streamlining permissions with single-window clearance

To facilitate smoother filmmaking processes in the state, the government plans to implement a single-window clearance system. A dedicated officer within the Film Development Corporation (FDC) will be responsible for coordinating with departments such as police, fire services, and municipal authorities to issue timely approvals for film shoots.

Cinematic tourism to boost regional development

Highlighting Telangana’s diverse and picturesque locations, the Deputy CM encouraged filmmakers to consider shooting at local tourist destinations. He emphasized that such initiatives would not only benefit the film industry but also contribute significantly to the state’s tourism sector.

Affordability in focus: Cinema food prices under scrutiny

Addressing public concerns, Bhatti Vikramarka criticized the high prices of food and beverages sold in cinema canteens. He directed authorities to introduce price regulations, ensuring that moviegoers are not burdened by exorbitant costs.

Land utilization and worker welfare under review

The committee also reviewed the 50 acres of land previously allotted to the FDC and called for an updated report on its usage. Additionally, the RCS Committee, which oversees the Chitrapuri Colony (a housing project for film workers), will be invited for further discussions to strengthen support for industry personnel.

Gaddar Film Awards to be presented on June 14

The Deputy CM announced that the Telangana Gaddar Film Awards will be presented on June 14, with plans to host the event on an unprecedented scale. Prominent personalities from both the Telugu film industry and national cinema will be invited to participate.

IT Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu, FDC Chairman Dil Raju, Special Chief Secretary Ravi Gupta, Information Commissioner Harish, and FDC Director Kishore Babu were also present.
