Three Telangana girls — Viha Reddy, Saanvi Kolisetty, and Nethra Birudavolu — have been selected for India’s U-16 basketball team for the SABA Championship in the Maldives. A major moment for Telangana basketball.

Hyderabad: For Telangana, it is a truly memorable happening with three hoopsters Viha Reddy Jonnalagadda, Saanvi Kolisetty and Nethra Birudavolu getting selected to represent India in the Under-16 Years at the SABA Championship to be held in Maldives from June 12 to 15.
Vija Reddy Jonnalagadda, is a student of Rockwell International School before joining Corvuss Americal School which has a tie-up with Basketball Federation of India. She plays as a forward and got her initial Coaching from Mahesh Thota.
Saanvi Kolisetty has been representing Telangana from Sub-Junior category. After getting her initial training under National Coach PS Santosh at Keystone Basketball Academy, she was selected for NBA Academy, before joining Corvuss American School. She plays as a guard.
Nethra Birudavolu has been a regular player for Telangana and plays as a forward. She has her training at Dream Basketball Academy.
All the three players have been representing Telangana from Under-13 Years category
“It is terrific and a huge morale booster for the sport in the State and can well inspire many girls to take up the sport seriously as a career option,,” says FIBA Commissioner Isaac Norman.
Telangana Basketball Association President R. Sridhar Reddy also said that these girls had done the State proud and hoped they would back triumphant.
“Definitely, the experience of playing such a prestigious event should make them ready for bigger challenges,” the TBA chief said.
