Three men in their twenties were killed and four others injured in a head-on collision between a private bus and a car on the Nagarjunasagar road in Yacharam late Tuesday night.
The victims were identified as Vasa Saiteja, 24, who was driving the vehicle; Vasa Pavan Kumar, 26, a concrete dealer; and Vasa Raghavendra, 22, a chicken shop supervisor.
Vasakumar, 22, Vasa Shiva Kumar, 25, Mekala Sandeep, 25, and E. Shiva Kumar Goud, injured in the mishap.
According to Yacharam Inspector A. Nandeeshwar Reddy, the victims, all cousins from Mahabubnagar, were returning to Hyderabad after a trip to the Nagarjunasagar dam around 12.30 a.m. when their SUV was hit head-on by a speeding private bus, operated by Giridhar Tours and Travels. The bus was en route from Hyderabad to Prakasam district.
The three youths died on the spot, while the injured were rushed to hospital.
Bus driver Pothi Reddy Krishna Mohan Reddy, a native of Prakasam district, has been arrested on charges of causing death by negligence. A case has been registered and a probe is on.
