Maruti Suzuki’s two popular cars – the Baleno premium hatchback and the Dzire compact sedan – were recently subjected to the Bharat NCAP (New Car Assessment Program) crash tests. While the former managed to score 4 -stars rating, the latter received 5-stars safety rating. The Dzire is the only Maruti Suzuki car to achieve 5-star rating from both Bharat and Global NCAP.

The compact sedan scored 29.46 points out of 32 and 41.57 points out of 49 in the adult and child occupant protection, respectively. In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the Dzire performed well by offering good protection to the head, neck, pelvis and femur of both front occupants.

Furthermore, it offered good protection to the driver’s feet and co-driver’s left tibias. However, the driver’s chest protection was rated as marginal and the co-driver’s was rated as adequate. The compact sedan provided adequate protection to the driver’s tibias and the co-driver’s right tibias.

The Maruti Dzire also performed well in the side deformable barrier test and side pole impact test. It offered good protection to the driver’s head, abdomen and pelvis, and adequate protection the chest in the side deformable barrier test.

Engine Specs:

The Maruti Dzire comes powered by a 3-cylinder, Z12E engine, delivering a maximum power of 82hp and a peak torque of 112Nm. A 5-speed manual gearbox as standard, while the AMT options is offered only on the base trim. The CNG fuel options is available in the mid-spec VXi and ZXi trims. The Dzire CNG, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox, produces power worth 69.75hp and 101.8Nm of torque.
