BHPian codezilla recently shared this with other enthusiasts: As a corporate professional, I now find myself commuting from Delhi to Gurugram and back every weekday, with 3-4 hours daily spent on the road. Thankfully, I have a chauffeur to drive me, which gives me a good opportunity to make use of that time for work-primarily attending meetings, and working on Excel sheets and presentations. That said, there are a few key challenges:Laptop stability – Delhi-NCR roads (as smooth as they are ) make it hard to keep the laptop steady.Posture – I end up balancing the laptop on my lap, which isn’t ergonomic or sustainable for long durations.Charging mess – I have a car laptop charger, but the dangling wires and clutter just make it messy and uncomfortable and the laptop unstable. What I’m Looking For:A sturdy laptop tray or mountSomething that can rest on the rear seat or attach to the front seat-back securely.Needs to be stable, strong, and not a cheap plastic tray that wobbles or cracks over time.Okay with DIY or aftermarket solutions-just need something reliable.Clean and safe power setupSuggestions on how to organise charging-USB hubs, inverters, or discreet cable management ideas.Bonus: A good headset for calls/meetingsSomething comfortable for long calls (I often spend 1-2 hours on back-to-back meetings during commute).Looking for headphones with a mic that cancels road and ambient traffic noise well.If anyone has already created a similar setup or has product recommendations (Amazon/aftermarket), please do share. I’m open to investing in the right accessories as this setup will be used daily. Thanks in advance! Here’s what GTOadded to the discussion:A topic close to my heart! If it’s the weekends, evenings or early mornings, I am always behind the wheel. However, if I have to step out for some work during the working hours on a weekday, I hop into an Uber / Ola sedan and work from the front passenger seat. Here are my tips: – Unless you are being driven around in a Vellfire, Carnival or S-Class, it is the front passenger seat that is vastly superior to the rear seat. Sit in the front passenger seat with its enhanced legroom (you can really stretch your legs), additional seat adjustment possibilities, better ride quality, superior AC performance and nicer sound quality from the ICE. – Not only should you work on your laptop, but also use this time for calls. Get a high-quality Bluetooth headset and take a break from screen time / laptop ergonomics. – You don’t need chargers – too messy. Get a new Macbook or one of the high-end lightweight Windows laptops with 8 – 10 hours battery life. I use Windows on my Macbook Air 15 (via Parallels) and find it ideal for the lightweight build, zero heat (no lap burning) and long battery life. It’s perfect for your work-from-car setup. – I usually keep the laptop on my lap and am totally fine. If you absolutely need a platform, get something portable like this. – Get one of those neck support pillows that strap on below the headrest. Have used them in some cars and found them to be immensely comfortable. – If you are still going to be on the backseat, you can get yourself stick-on sunshades for the windows (privacy, protection from heat). – Have your chauffeur stop the car every 30 – 45 minutes, step out, stretch, take a short walk. Will make a big difference to your blood circulation, spinal health, freshness and productivity levels. Drink lots of water. Give your eyes a break every 20 minutes and glance at the world outside (20 – 20 – 20 rule for eyes…look it up). Enjoy the enhanced productivity . Long hours spent in traffic are the most colossal waste of time.Check out BHPian comments for more insights and information.
