Hyderabad: Several districts across Telangana witnessed heavy rainfall on Thursday, with the highest downpour recorded in Mannegudem, Bheemaram mandal of Jagtial district, where 82.3 mm of rainfall was registered, according to data released by the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS).Following closely were Dulmitta in Siddipet district with 57 mm and Polasa (ARS) in Jagtial Rural with 54.8 mm. Other areas such as Birkur (51.5 mm), Thommidirekula in Keshampet mandal (49 mm), and Jadcherla in Mahabubnagar (47 mm) also saw significant rainfall.Rainfall between 26 mm to 40 mm was reported from locations across Mahabubnagar, Nizamabad, Nagarkurnool, Karimnagar, and Adilabad districts, placing these under the “moderate” to “heavy” rainfall categories.Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for parts of the state. Heavy rain is very likely at isolated places in Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mahabubabad, Warangal, and Hanamkonda districts.Additionally, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are expected across all districts of Telangana. The IMD also forecasts light to moderate rain or thundershowers at many places over the state.Authorities have urged residents to stay indoors during lightning events and advised farmers and travellers to take necessary precautions amid the changing weather conditions.
