First-Ever Gaddar Film Awards Set to Dazzle Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Telangana – A new chapter in Telangana’s vibrant film history is set to unfold today as the much-anticipated first-ever Telangana Gaddar Film Awards are presented in a glittering ceremony at Hitex. This landmark event, envisioned by the Revanth Reddy government, marks a significant shift, replacing the erstwhile Nandi awards and honoring the revolutionary spirit of the beloved balladeer, Gaddar.

Though a tad delayed from the original plan of coinciding with Gaddar’s birth anniversary, the excitement is palpable. Preparations are in full swing for a grand evening filled with cultural performances and entertainment, promising a truly memorable experience for all attendees.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, the driving force behind this initiative, will grace the occasion, presenting the prestigious awards alongside renowned personalities from the Telugu film fraternity. The Telangana State Film Development Corporation (TGFDC) has already unveiled the list of deserving winners spanning the years 2014 to 2023, showcasing the remarkable talent within the industry.

Among the big winners, Prabhas-starrer ‘Kalki’ has clinched the coveted Best Film award, with ‘Pottel’ and ‘Lucky Bhaskar’ securing the Best Second and Best Third Film honors, respectively. The powerhouse performer Allu Arjun has been recognized as Best Actor for his captivating role in ‘Pushpa 2’, while the talented Nivetha Thomas takes home the Best Leading Actress award for ‘Chinna Katha Kadu’. The visionary Nag Ashwin has been lauded as Best Director for his exceptional work on ‘Kalki’.

Beyond the glitz and glamour of the awards, whispers suggest that Chief Minister Reddy is poised to make significant announcements aimed at bolstering the Telugu film industry. Industry insiders anticipate sops and a clear articulation of the state government’s ambitious vision: to transform Hyderabad into India’s premier film capital. This grand plan includes the establishment of cutting-edge facilities, a sprawling Film City, a dedicated animation hub, and a comprehensive policy tailored for the entertainment sector. A Cabinet Sub-Committee, led by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, has already tasked the TGFDC with drafting a detailed blueprint for this ambitious industry development.

Chief Minister Reddy, who first championed the idea of the Gaddar film awards upon assuming office in 2023, is also reportedly keen on fostering an entertainment hub within the futuristic 30,000-acre “Future City” project on Hyderabad’s outskirts. With the state government’s pivotal role in nurturing the entertainment industry, expect a slew of impactful decisions to be unveiled at tonight’s awards ceremony.

Adding to the star power, State Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy confirmed that stalwarts of the Telugu glamour world, including senior actors Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, and Balakrishna, have been invited as esteemed guests, promising an unforgettable evening for everyone involved.
