Five Telangana students make it to NEET top-100 | Hyderabad News


Hyderabad: The NEET 2025 results were declared on Saturday, with five students from Telangana securing spots in the top 100 ranks. Of the 70,259 students from the state who appeared for the exam in May, 59.17% qualified.K Jeevan Sai Kumar emerged as Telangana’s top performer, with an All India Rank (AIR) of 18 in the open category. He was followed by Shamukha Akshintala (AIR 37), M Varun (AIR 46), Y Shanmukh (AIR 48), and Bidisha Majee (AIR 95).This year’s results mark a significant improvement from 2024, when only one student from the state made it to the top 100 in the open category. Among the five high rankers this year, two are from Narayana Educational Institute and three from Sri Chaitanya Institute.According to the National Testing Agency (NTA), the number of NEET aspirants from Telangana dropped compared to last year — from 77,848 in 2024 to 70,259 this year.Several students shared their preparation journeys. K Vikranth, who secured 9th rank in the Scheduled Caste category (AIR 262), said he studied for 15–16 hours a day. “Becoming a doctor has been my childhood dream. I cannot wait to get into college. I chose this profession so I can help those around me,” he said.M Manaswini, who secured 49th rank in the EWS category (AIR 960), said her goal is to support her family. “I want to make my parents proud. My father is a farmer, and my mother is a homemaker. I want to give them a comfortable life,” she said.The NEET exam is held annually for admission to undergraduate medical and dental programmes across India.“Losing my grandmother to cancer at a young age changed everything for me. That pain pushed me to choose medicine — I wanted to be someone who would save lives. I never imagined I’d top the state. It still feels surreal, but I’m grateful and excited for the journey ahead,” said K Jeevan Sai Kumar (AIR 18).“Becoming a doctor has always been my childhood dream, and this result brings me one step closer to it. I was confident I had done well, but being among the top 50 in the country is beyond anything I expected. I have my sights set on AIIMS Delhi, and now, it truly feels possible,” said Shamukha Nishanth Akshintala (AIR 37).“I’ve grown up in a household where medicine was more than a profession — it was a way of life. My father, a doctor himself, has always inspired me with his dedication and humility. I want to follow in his footsteps and become not just a skilled doctor, but a compassionate human being,” said M Varun (AIR 46).“The human body’s complexity and resilience have always fascinated me. That curiosity is what drew me to medicine. Cracking the exam is just the beginning; my aim now is to join a top college and turn this lifelong passion into a meaningful career,” Y Shanmukh (AIR 48).
