Jason Day Named His Favorite NFL Teams Without Hesitation originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Jason Day has been turning heads since the very start of this week. First with his unique outfit choices during practice rounds, and now with his illegal selection of NFL teams.
Day surprised fans and golf observers alike when, during a casual interview at the U.S, the two-time major champion declared, “My favourite football team is the Cleveland Browns, even though they have a rivalry. My second favourite team is Pittsburgh, and I’m going to get a lot of slack for that. But yeah, I do have the Pittsburgh colours on today, so I’ll just leave it at that.”
Day’s comments touch on one of the NFL’s oldest and fiercest matchups: the “Turnpike Rivalry” between the Browns and Steelers. With 147 meetings to their name since their first meeting on October 7, 1950, this divisional clash carries deep history and passionate fan bases in Ohio and Western Pennsylvania.
Did Jason Day just say he is a @Browns and @Steelers fan? 🏈

While Cleveland trails the all-time series 82–64–1, its supporters have eagerly awaited a return to contention. Day’s unconventional split allegiance underscores the unique bond sports fans can feel even when rooting for rivals.
The timing of Day’s revelation coincides with renewed optimism surrounding the Browns’ roster this offseason. Especially the performance of those rookie quarterbacks. Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel both performed extremely well, but Sanders has been a tad bit ahead.
Earlier in the week, the Australian PGA Tour star sported a pair of American‑flag shorts that had cameras and social media buzzing. Day now sits tied in twelfth position with a score of 3-over par. He is set to tee off at 2:02 PM for the third round.
