Hyderabad’s Boozy Riders: Over 900 Nabbed in Week-Long Drunk Driving Blitz
In a stern crackdown from June 7 to 13, Hyderabad Traffic Police booked a whopping 928 drunk driving cases, with two-wheelers topping the charts at 805. The drive also netted 44 three-wheelers and 79 four-wheelers, as the city reels from a growing concern over intoxicated drivers.
What’s alarming is the youthful profile of these offenders — 394 cases were from the 21–30 age group, followed by 290 from the 31–40 bracket. Interestingly, in 628 instances, the Blood Alcohol Count (BAC) remained under 100 mg/100 ml — signalling moderate levels of intoxication, but still punishable.
Telangana Sanctions ₹3 Crore for Gaddar Foundation to Honour People’s Poet
In a tribute to the legacy of revolutionary balladeer Gaddar, the Telangana Government has sanctioned ₹3 crore to the Gaddar Foundation. This move follows a promise made by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy during the recent Gaddar Jayanti celebrations, where he vowed state support to preserve the ideals and memory of the iconic people’s poet.
The Department of Language and Culture has now formally released the funds, aimed at empowering the foundation’s cultural and social initiatives. In a significant recognition, the government has also granted the Gaddar Foundation an official role in organising all future Gaddar Jayanti celebrations.
Gaddar, who gave voice to the voiceless and inspired generations through his fiery songs and fearless activism, remains a powerful symbol of resistance and hope. With this support, Telangana seeks to ensure that its legacy continues to inspire the coming generations.
