In the post-pandemic era, Bollywood’s Khiladi No. 1 Akshay Kumar is going through one of the roughest patches of his career.
Out of 15 theatrical releases since 2021, only Sooryavanshi and OMG 2 (where he wasn’t even the main lead) have been declared hits.

Films Like Bellbottom, Bachchhan Paandey, Samrat Prithviraj, Raksha Bandhan, Selfiee, Mission Raniganj, and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan Failed Misrably at the Box Office.

Even Sky Force and Kesari 2, where Akshay gave strong performances, couldn’t pull in crowds. Housefull 5 is performing averagely more due to its franchise value and comedy appeal than quality.
There is still some hope.

Jolly LLB 3 has strong potential thanks to its courtroom drama theme and popular character. Bhooth Bangla, a horror-comedy-thriller, might click if executed well.
Welcome to the Jungle (Welcome 3) was supposed to be a major crowd-puller, but it’s currently delayed due to budget issues. Its release date remains uncertain.
The bigger problem? None of these projects look like the ₹400–₹500 crore blockbuster that Akshay urgently needs to re-establish his mass appeal.
That said, Akshay has always been a risk-taker and a workhorse. His versatility and discipline have kept him going for decades.
With the right script and timing, a strong comeback is still possible.
