Andhra Pradesh intelligence sleuth loses Rs 59,000 to online fraud | Hyderabad News


Hyderabad: An intelligence official from Andhra Pradesh approached Saifabad police claiming that he had become a victim of cyber fraud after unidentified individuals allegedly withdrew Rs 59,000 from his bank account without his knowledge.The man said in his complaint that he went to an ATM three days ago and withdrew Rs 31,000 cash using his debit card. Later, he received a phone call from customer care informing him that Rs 49,000 was debited from his account via netbanking.When he verified his bank statement, he found that an unauthorised transaction of Rs 10,000 was done by unidentified individuals on an e-commerce website. Similarly, Rs 49,000 was transferred through netbanking.The complainant works at the AP police dept’s office located in Masab Nagar. Based his complaint, Saifabad police registered a case under violation of Information Technology Act and cheating against unknown persons. Police are in the process of gathering information about the bank account into which Rs 49,000 was transferred.
