Six youths from Hyderabad drowned while taking a holy dip in the Godavari River at Basar. Five bodies have been recovered so far. The group was visiting Sri Gnana Saraswathi Devasthanam when the incident occurred. Search continues for the sixth victim.

Nirmal: Six devotees from Hyderabad drowned in Godavari while taking a holy dip in it at temple town Basar on Sunday. Bodies of five devotees were retrieved from the river.
Police said that the devotees were identified as Rakesh (17), Vinod (18), Madan (18), Ruthvik and Bharath from Chintalbazar in Dilsukhnagar of Hyderabad. A search was launched to retrieve the remaining bodies.
A group of 18 persons belonging to three families had arrived in Basar to visit the ancient Sri Gnana Saraswathi Devasthanam on the weekend. The six met a watery grave when they were taking the dip at a deep point of the river. The youngsters who were not familiar with swimming ventured into the spot and drowned.
Upon receiving information from the family members of the youngsters, police rushed to the spot and deployed expert divers and brought out the bodies.
