HYDERABAD: A 45-year-old man died after allegedly being made to drink toddy laced with sleeping pills by his wife in Saidabad. Police have taken the woman into custody and registered a case of suspicious death.According to police, the deceased, Gishan, a flower vendor, was married to Ayesha Parveen for several years. Their relationship had reportedly been strained for a long time. Ayesha had earlier filed a domestic violence case against Gishan at the LB Nagar police station.Recently, tensions escalated between the couple after Gishan began suspecting Ayesha of having an extramarital affair. The couple reportedly argued over the matter a few days ago. Police suspect that Ayesha then hatched a plan to eliminate him. Two days ago, she allegedly spiked toddy with sleeping pills and made Gishan consume it. He soon became unconscious. Fearing the consequences, Ayesha shifted him to a nearby hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment.Police conducted autopsy on Saturday and registered a criminal case. Further investigation is underway to confirm the sequence of events.
