Amaravati Gets Two More Key Projects Worth 2,787 Cr

People’s capital Amaravati has secured two key projects following the approval of Central government. The Center has given green signal to a common Central Secretariat for all Central government offices.

Housing complex for the employees in Central Secretariat will also be constructed. The two projects will be developed at a cost of Rs 2,787 crore.

Rs 1,458 crore has been allocated for Central Secretariat and the remaining Rs 1,329 crore will be spent on general pool residential accommodation. The orders were given on Tuesday following the approval by the Union Finance department. Union urban development department raised the proposal.

The same was posted on X by State Minister of Rural Development and Communications, Chandrasekhar Pemmasani. Both the projects will be handled by Central public works department (CPWD). 22.53 acres of land was allotted to CPWD by the TDP government in 2018.

5.53 acres were allotted in Amaravati government complex and 17 acres were allotted outside it. After 2019, then CM Jagan did not take up the development of Amaravati. He also played the three capital game which was contested in Court. So, the Central government too did not come forward to help.

In 2024, the alliance government held parleys with the Centre regarding the development of the key projects. The ministers sub-committee appointed to oversee land allotment in capital area approved the allotment of 22.53 acres once again to CPWD.
