The BSNL is building an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based system to automatically identify a problem and correct by itself in the system. Crack teams have already been deployed at each telecom circle to check for quality issues and address customers grievances.

“We have put in indigenous technology and it takes time to stabilise. There are small issues about voice quality. We are confident of being able to come up with real good quality of network. We want our loyal customers to be patient a bit more,” said chairman and managing director A. Robert J. Ravi on Wednesday.

In an exclusive interaction during the soft launch of three high speed internet services here, the CMD said that multinational companies took years to stabilise but insisted that the BSNL 4G speeds are much better than that of its competitors though it will take some time to complete the “tuning” of the network to make it more secure for the customer.

“But once the network is tuned well, we would have developed a product that is most secure for the customer, because everything is completely under control. We want to ensure every customer is totally satisfied,” he said.

“We have 90,000 4G connections and will cross one lakh by July. We are also meeting the telecom regular parameters as we report every month. We are sure that in three months, we will be able to provide world class quality mobile and data services,” said Mr. Ravi.

Apart from installing one lakh more mobile towers across the country, the public sector telecom giant has been looking at other alternatives. “We will soon announce our new technology breakthroughs developed indigenously where quality services can be offered without tower installation. We are also looking at offering services without a SIM card and the need to change SIM cards,” he said.

For now, 5G FWA will be the focus area for the next few months. “Our maiden launch of 5G mobile services will be in Delhi in September. We are also planning something unique for 5G mobile customers,” said the CMD. Monetisation of assets has been proceeding well, doubling the previous year’s performance, he added and exuded confidence about achieving targets with government support.
