If you’re a frequent traveler crossing multiple toll plazas every month or year and toll charges are burning a hole in your pocket, there’s good news for you. Union Road Trasport and Highways (URTH) minister Nitin Gadhkari has announced a new FASTag Annual pass plan for private vehicles, which is set to be enforced from 15th August, 2025.
What is the FASTag Annual Pass Scheme?
The FASTag Annual Pass will cost Rs 3,000 and will be valid for one year or 200 trips, whichever comes earlier. This means the average cost per trip will come down to just Rs 15. Crossing a single National Highway toll plaza will be counted as a single trip.

Who can apply for the Annual FASTag?
This policy is exclusively for the non-commercial four-wheelers such as cars, vans and jeeps. Therefore, every private vehicle owner can apply for this scheme. It is not valid for vehicles used for commercial or cargo transport.
How to activate the Annual FASTag?
You can activate the annual pass on the existing FASTag as long as it is properly installed, associated with a valid vehicle registration number, and not on the blacklist. One can enjoy the benefits of the annual pass without purchasing a new FASTag.
Where is the Annual FASTag valid?
The annual pass will be valid only at National Highway and Expressway toll plazas. FASTag will continue to work normally at state highway or local authority toll plazas, where standard toll rates will be charged.
Is the FASTag Annual Pass mandatory?
No, the annual pass is completely optional. Users who chose not to opt for the annual pass can continue to use FASTag for regular toll payments as usual.
