Hyderabad: The fire department rescued at least ten people who were trapped in a building that caught fire at Moghalpura on Wednesday night.

According to the police, the fire broke out on the ground floor of a G+3 storied building located at Moghalpura. On information fire tenders from Moghalpura and Gowliguda fire station rushed to the spot. After noticing the occupants were trapped on the upper floors of the building the firemen shifted them to the terrace of the adjacent building.

“The fire started in a shop on the ground floor where a lot of cardboard and paper was stored. The fire generated a lot of smoke and the residents could not come down and moved on to the terrace. They were later rescued,” said A Balaraju, Assistant District Fire Officer.

The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Preliminary investigation suggests the fire broke out due to a short circuit.
