A major mishap was narrowly avoided in Hyderabad after an Air India flight was halted moments before take-off on Thursday.
The aircraft was preparing for departure from Hyderabad to Mumbai when the pilot detected a technical issue during final checks. Reacting swiftly, the pilot decided to abort the take-off and brought the plane to a safe stop on the runway.
The incident took place at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad. The timely action by the pilot ensured the safety of all passengers and crew on board.
The airlines arranged an alternative flight and staff for the affected passengers to Mumbai.
Earlier, Air India cancelled eight flights due to enhanced maintenance and operational reasons. One flight from Delhi to Pune was grounded following a bird hit.
The precautions come amid pre-enhanced safety checks mandated for all Air India 787 Dreamliners following deadly Ahmedabad-London AI171 crash, which claimed 270 lives.
On Thursday, the airline announced to temporarily reduce international flights operations with wide-body planes to 15 per cent from June 21 to July 15.
