IND vs ENG Cricket Score, 1st Test Day 1 Highlights: Shubman Gill’s century and Rishabh Pant’s half century help India post 359/3 at Stumps | Cricket News

India vs England 1st Test, ENG vs IND Highlights: Shubman Gill marked his debut Test as India’s captain in the longest format with a masterful century while Rishabh Pant scored a nifty half century as India posted 359/3 at Stumps on Day 1. Gill brought up his century in 140 balls and this makes him the fifth Indian to have scored a century in his first Test as captain.

Pant ran down the track and smashed Ben Stokes back over his head the second ball he faced in the innings but he has been watchful ever since. He along with captain Shubman Gill have hunkered down in the third session, with the latter inching ever closer to scoring a century in his first match as India’s Test skipper. Yashasvi Jaiswal earlier batted two full sessions and scored 101 in 158 balls but he didn’t last long in the third. Stokes provided his side the breakthrough with a brilliant delivery and thus ended Jaiswal’s sensational knock.

Jaiswal struggled with cramps towards the end of the second session in which he and Shubman Gill dominated the England bowling attack. He received some help from the physio and went on to smash fours off back to back deliveries before taking a single to get to 100 in 150 balls. Jaiswal has thus marked his first ever Test innings in England with a century.
