Telangana: Irrigation ENC transferred, asked to report to government

Hyderabad: The Engineer-in-Chief (General) G. Anil Kumar, Department of Irrigation has been transferred and directed to report before the government. An order was issued to this effect on Friday attributing the reason to “exigency of administration”. Consequently, Mohd Amjad Hussain, Chief Engineer (Enquiries) and Engineer-in-Chief (Administration), has been placed in full additional charge of the post of the ENC (General).

Sources in the department said that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy wanted the transfer of Anil Kumar almost a month ago. But the decision was kept on hold following a request by one of his Cabinet colleagues.

Anil Kumar was in the eye of storm ever since grouting works were taken up on Medigadda before the NDSA could step in for studies at the behest of the State government. This is the key issue on which the L&T rejected the NDSA observations on Medigadda.

Anil Kumar had reportedly incurred the displeasure of the political bosses for reportedly defending an irrigation engineer, Noone Sridhar who was suspended following Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) raids. Besides him, 38 irrigation officials received show-cause notices from the State Vigilance Commission, reflecting internal administrative actions.
