Hyderabad: Differences between Warangal Congress MLAs and Forest Minister Konda Surekha’s family are snowballing into a major controversy, with several legislators filing complaints with AICC incharge Meenakshi Natarajan over the conduct of the Konda family.

For the past few days, a verbal feud has been escalating between the Warangal MLAs and the Konda family. In a veiled attack on Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari, former MLC and Surekha’s husband, Konda Murali, challenged the turncoat MLAs to resign and seek a fresh mandate.

He also alleged that one such MLA had betrayed Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu and BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao.

Adding fuel to the row, Surekha accused Srihari of falsely campaigning that she would be dropped from the Cabinet. She also alleged that the Station Ghanpur MLA was misleading Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, who is the Warangal district incharge Minister.

Irked by the remarks, Warangal MLAs, including Srihari, Nayini Rajender Reddy, KR Nagaraju, Revuri Prakash Reddy, MLC Basavaraju Saraiah and other senior leaders, held a meeting at Rajender Reddy’s camp office. They condemned Konda Murali’s comments and warned that such behaviour would not be tolerated within the party.

They also brought the issue to the notice of TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, who, in turn, sought a detailed report from the DCC president and senior leaders in Warangal. According to party sources, the report has already been submitted.

In addition to approaching the TPCC president, the MLAs met AICC incharge Meenakshi Natarajan in Hyderabad on Sunday. They apprised her of Surekha’s alleged interference in the affairs of other constituencies.

The TPCC Political Affairs Committee and Advisory Committee meetings are scheduled to be held on June 24. The meetings will be attended by the AICC incharge, the Chief Minister, the TPCC president and other senior leaders.

“There is every possibility that the Konda family issue will come up for discussion during these meetings,” a senior leader at Gandhi Bhavan said.
