Maruti Grand Vitara
Available at a starting price of Rs 19.20 lakh, the Maruti Grand Vitara is one of the most affordable hybrid cars in India. Its strong hybrid version features a Toyota-sourced 92bhp, 1.5L, 3-cylinder Atkinson cycle petrol engine, paired with an electric motor that’s good enough for 79bhp and 141Nm. The combined power output of this setup stands at 115bhp. With an e-CVT gearbox, the Grand Vitara hybrid offers a claimed efficiency of 27.97kmpl.

Toyota Hyryder
The Toyota Hyryder, which is a re-badged version of the Grand Vitara, is available in four trims – E, S, G and V. Buyers can get strong hybrid powertrain only with the S, G and V trims. It uses a 1.5L TNGA Atkinson cycle with a 177.6V lithium-ion battery, churning out a maximum power of 92bhp and 122Nm. The SUV offers a claimed fuel efficiency of 27.97kmpl.
Honda City e:HEV

The Honda City e:HEV is available only in the top-end ZX trim. The hybrid sedan features a 1.5L, 4-cylinder petrol engine with two electric motors and a battery pack. Transmission duties are performed by an eCVT gearbox. The Honda City hybrid is claimed to deliver a fuel efficiency of 26.5kmpl.
Maruti invisto
Next on the list of the most affordable hybrid cars is the Maruti Invicto. This MPV uses a 2.0L, 4-cylinder petrol engine, paired with an electric motor and hybrid setup. This configuration delivers a maximum power of 186bhp. Maruti claims that the Invicto offers a mileage of 23.24kmpl. The Maruti Invicto is essentially the re-badged version of the Toyota Innova Hycross with sightly different styling.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor captured nearly 80 percent market share with sales of nearly 6,930 units of hybrid vehicles in April, 2025. The Toyota Innova Hycross is currently the top-selling hybrid car in the country. Based on Toyota’s TNGA-C platform, this hybrid MPV comes with a 2.0L, 4-cylinder Atkinson cycle strong hybrid powertrain, delivering a combined power of 184bhp and a fuel efficiency of 23.24kmpl. The hybrid powertrain is available only on the VX and ZX trims.
