Warangal Congress infighting escalates: MLAs, MLCs seek action against minister Konda Surekha for ‘unilateral decisions'; urge AICC to take disciplinary action

HYDERABAD: Congress leaders from erstwhile Warangal, including some MLAs, MLCs, and senior party leaders, met AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan on Sunday and lodged a complaint against minister Konda Surekha and her husband, former MLC Konda Murali. They alleged that the couple was acting unilaterally, not cooperating with other party leaders, and sidelining them in decisions. The leaders urged Meenakshi to take disciplinary action. This move comes shortly after followers of Konda Surekha had filed complaints against these leaders with TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, highlighting a widening rift between factions in the district. Tensions escalated recently after Murali made remarks targeting turncoat MLAs. The Congress MLAs also objected to unilateral decisions taken by Surekha, regarding Bonalu and Ashadam Jatara at Bhadrakali temple in Warangal. They opposed the proposed animal sacrifices, claiming such practices go against the temple’s traditions. The minister dismissed the allegations as baseless but went on to postpone the Bonalu celebrations scheduled for Sunday. Meanwhile, AICC leaders have assured both groups that the matter will be looked into impartially. TPCC has sought a detailed report from local leaders in Warangal, following which the party will take a call, sources said.
