Three killed in separate drowning incidents in Hyderabad

Three individuals, including an Intermediate student and a 10-year-old girl, drowned in different water bodies on the outskirts of Hyderabad on Sunday.

At Indira Sagar Cheruvu in Anajpur, Abdullapurmet, two persons drowned after a failed rescue attempt. The victims were identified as Indrasena Reddy, 20, and his relative Pranitha, 10. According to the Inspector of Abdullapurmet police, Ashok Reddy, Pranitha had gone to the area along with her parents and relatives. “While they were near a real estate venture close to the water body, Pranitha accidentally slipped and fell into the lake. Indrasena attempted to rescue her, but both drowned,” said the Inspector. A case has been registered by the Abdullapurmet police, and an investigation is underway.

In another incident at Manasa Hills, Shamshabad, Mirza Shoeib Baig, 17, an Intermediate student from Borabanda, drowned in a water-filled quarry pit. According to an officer from the RGIA Police, Baig had gone to play cricket with friends and later visited the quarries to take photographs and make Instagram reels. “He reportedly slipped and fell into the water while filming. His friends tried to save him but in vain,” said the officer, adding that the police, along with fire and DRF teams, recovered the body later in the evening and sent it for post-mortem.
