Hyderabad: Three statues, including those of Dr BR Ambedkar, Mahatma Gandhi and former AP Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, that were removed from their pedestals in the GHMC head office on Tuesday, were shifted to a location adjacent to the maintenance and store rooms.
GHMC officials had placed the statues and covered them with blue polythene to keep them veiled. Initially, the officials identified three different areas, including near Sri Kattamysamma temple (north side of the GHMC office), the canteen side, and near the front gate of the GHMC office. “Uncertainty on fixing the location continues and will take a few more days,” sources from GHMC town planning wing told ‘Telangana Today’.
Once the locations are finalised, certain civil works, including construction of pedestals, beautification works like greenery development, ornamental plants, and painting the statues and other works, will be taken up. At least one month will be needed to complete these works, said the sources.
The entire area, where statues are placed, is under surveillance.
